Nora Mulder & Han Buhrs - Ensemble Extra Ordinair
With rhythmically screaming feedback buckets, popping trays, wok-lid percussion, snuffling toffee drum bass, nicht-wohl-temperierte tuning forks and runaway haricot mills. And also: Metylpiano, contemporary music from before the war (with smokey notes), tired organs, squeaking bluesharp, ultrashort stamping songs and spit speeches. With titles such as: The Dip Is Deep This Time, Sneu, False Rest, What Well Beautiful ?, All Ghosts, Nut Is Delusional 2 and Regre ... t. Fun is different, but nothing is more amusing than peculiar interpreted idiosyncrasies and sorrow in singular verses. Nora Mulder and Han Buhrs are Ensemble Extra Ordinair.
Kate More - Spel III for cello and tape
Spel III is a movement from Kate's percussion suite Coral Speak arranged for cello. Coral Speak is a suite of laments and playful dances in homage to the fragility of the Great Barrier Reef, where the corals are currently under threat due to climate changes and human intervention. Each piece imagines the colourful interplay of movement between the living corals, joyful sentient creatures celebrating the their idyllic surrounding and utopian waters. The pieces have a melancholic edge at the prospect of the corals retreating and dissipating as the water changes. The ebullient dance of life and beauty comes to an abrupt halt as it is silenced and abandoned, leaving behind a skeleton like a ruined underwater city that once thrived, never to return.
